The little Wienerschnitzel animated hot dog has been running for his life for over 15 years now and during that time he has become part of pop culture. There are toys and antenna toppers, stickers, children's books, calendars and life-size costumes for appearances at public events. Though he's never had an actual name, he's become pretty well known and has sold a lot of hot dogs.
Every year Wienerschnitzel sponsors the Chili Cheese Fries Eating Contest at the Queen Mary in Long Beach. All the great competitive eaters from around the world show up hoping to win the crown.
The Wiener Nationals are the United States national dachshund racing championships sponsored by Wienerschnitzel. It has become quite a tradition in SoCal. The yearly race always garners the year's highest attendance at Los Alamitos Racetrack.
